Additional Date for Back To School Mini Sessions | Nashville Franklin Back to School Portrait Photography
annual back to school mini sessions august 9 | custom school photography franklin brentwood nashville
It is nearly back to school time here in middle Tennessee! New clothes, new classrooms, new teachers and school pictures. (one of these things is not like the others…) While school pictures are a rite of passage in our culture, they aren’t always the best picture of your child. Until now. Instead of having your child stand in a line, get a quick snap with spaghetti on their face and their hair all out of place while someone says “Say cheese!” for 3 seconds and then a fake background is photoshopped in, how about this year getting some awesome pictures of your kiddo that show his or her personality?! You can! Book a mini session at the studio for Saturday, August 9.
These were a big hit last year. You definitely don’t want to miss out! All ages (2 and up, please) are welcome!
Here are the details:
And here are a few friends from last year:
Not just for the little ones, older kids can come and update their look as well.
You can buy the same old boring school package or, this year, get pictures you’ll LOVE! Call or email to book your session today! email: firstname.lastname@example.org or call 615-394-5970. The session fee will be required to hold your session time.
Is Summer flying by for you? I cannot believe we have just 2.5 weeks until school starts. What a fun Summer we have been having. I hope that your Summer has included fun, travel and family time!
Lots of great folks have stopped by to hang out with me this Summer. Here’s a quick sampling of some of the sessions I’ve been working on recently in between pool and travel time!
Grandma Nancy and her sweet granddaughter, Samantha: Samantha is a cancer survivor and has had other health obstacles to overcome. While visiting her Grandma this Summer, they asked for a studio session to capture them together. I was honored to do so!
These sweet boys were also visiting Grandma this Summer and we met up one morning for some fun near the studio. They were spunky and well behaved, a great combination!
I have had 4 newborns in the last month, and I’m sure I’ll be sharing more from their sessions soon, but here’s a little sneak from each of those yummy sessions!
And these cuties were full of energy, though you’d never know it from their images!
And I may have played a role in helping a little girl launch her acting career in Los Angeles.
And last, but certainly not least, I captured a family that has recently gone from 5 to 7, in all of their beauty, with love outpouring.
I’m catching up on all orders and galleries now after a wonderful, relaxing week at the beach. And squeezing out the last possible bits of Summer fun with the family before I send both of my boys to school full time for the first time ever. SNIFF!!!
I’ll leave with a personal favorite from the trip last week as my parting shot. More beach images to come very soon. Happy Summer!
QUICK UPDATE on Monday: Yesterday’s Sessions were a delight! What cute kids and adorable images! Take a quick look at a screen capture of my favorites of the day!
Summer is heating up! This Summer the girls at CLICK studio, the awesome studio co-op that I am a part of, decided to hold an itty bitty themed mini session. We borrowed the most adorable lemonade stand ever and announced our mini sessions to our clients and to those passing by the studio, located in Lenox Village. It was fun to spend the morning with some adorable little ones, drink a little lemonade and take a break from the heat!
I am so excited to announce that we will have one final date, TOMORROW, Sunday, June 29, from 1p to 3p for those of you that missed the weekday opportunity. No appointment is needed, so come on down in summer fare or throw the kids in their bathing suits, whatever their pleasure! Have some fun with our adorable lemonade stand! This will be our final event date. Digital files are prepaid at $20 cash or check.
Come join the fun!!! No appointment needed! CLICK Studio, 6977 Sunnywood Drive, Nashville 37211.
A fresh new baby, so tiny and new…in one instant, a person and brand new parents are born! It is such an honor to be a part of a true miracle.
Welcome, Miss Maggie! Maggie came to the studio at the mature age of 3 weeks. If you haven’t scheduled your newborn session and are worried your baby might be too old, let me reassure you that with patience, nearly anything is possible!
welcome to your wonderful life, Maggie. Big things are ahead for you! Enjoy the ride.
parting shot of the princess:
When you hire a photographer, you often have a vision of what you want your images to look like. Maybe not the exact location, or even how your kids will smile or sit, but usually you have spent time looking through other friends’ photos, photographers’ websites or Pinterest for ideas of what is current. Or you might be working toward matching an existing look in your home, be it colors that coordinate with the family room where the big family picture will hang or pairing the newest toddler’s portrait on a wall with older siblings at the same age. Some folks want edgy images, some want more candid style and others prefer a traditional look. It’s my job to figure all of that out BEFORE we ever get to the location and start our session. Because in the end, I want you to have images that you love and that work for you and your family in your home.
When Jenny contacted me recently, she knew her goals for her session. The last time we were together she had 2 adorable kids and we created an adorable family image that hangs in their home. Now, they have a spunky 2 year old daughter as well (time flies!) and mom is pregnant with #4! The goal of our session was to create an updated family image and to capture the 3 kids together. Jenny even texted me images of what we captured last session that are hanging on the walls so I knew what to aim for! And, of course we needed some adorable images of Miss Audrey, too! Jenny likes a more traditional look to her images, so I suggested the open grassy area at the private, Brentwood outdoor location where I shoot. Happy customer? Happy photographer!
Here’s a sneak peek of our session:
beyond the ordinary [urban session location] | Nashville Franklin Family Outdoor Urban Downtown Photography
Tennessee is known for its rolling green hills, lush trees and horse farms. We are blessed to be able to hold outdoor sessions through many months of the year, providing a variety of seasonal backdrops. Outdoor portrait photography is very popular here and most clients that contact me ask about outdoor location options. I love a good open green landscape, but sometimes the background, when printing, provides an abundance of green. Or maybe you’ve had outdoor portraits taken a few times in a nature setting and are looking for something different. May I suggest an urban session.
Downtown Nashville has an abundance of texture and the tall buildings allow us to be more flexible with session times. Harsh sunlight by 10a and through 6p can really limit Summer outdoor sessions, but the shade of the buildings allow a much wider time frame for us for scheduling.
Whatever the backdrop, the focus is on YOU and YOUR FAMILY. Early Summer sessions are booking quickly. If you are considering a session before school starts, contact me today to get on my calendar before it gets much warmer! Any location is perfect as long as you are in the images!
If you’ve been a frequent visitor to this blog, you’ve undoubtedly seen what I call “the khp triplets”. I have enjoyed the challenge and fun that photographing triplets has brought, from their beautiful newborn session, their adorable holiday session all the way to standing, crawling toddlers. We recently got together at their grandparents’ home in South Franklin and had a fun time chasing babies and capturing these gorgeous babies!
I’m excited to share a few images from our morning together. You’ll even see Savannah, my awesome assistant, working double duty as a baby wrangler and photography lighting assistant at the same time! I sure am going to miss her when she’s off to college in the Fall.
I could spend every day with these sweet 3! Thanks A & C for allowing me the opportunity to capture your three babies again!
Considering having a session with your baby who is not yet walking? Don’t wait until they are tearing down the hallway on two feet…get that session scheduled as soon as possible. A standing, wobbly toddler is much easier to photograph than a new walker who has much to explore!

parting shot (baby wrangling at its finest!):
happy birthday, hudson!
Hudson is the first of several little ones that are completing their first year of life documented here at karenhalbert photography. i am continually honored to be a part of the most important year to document for each of my khp babies! We all cherish baby pictures, and look at them again and again as we grow up. We tease our siblings’ dates with baby pictures, share them of our graduate to show how far they’ve come and pull them out again when we have our own children to show similarities in features and baby cuteness when we are parents ourselves. And for my baby planner folks, I get to be a part of that history. THAT is so cool.
Hudson has been quite the model client. He’s been happy and sweet at each session. Look how much he has grown in a year!!!
You can see more of his first session here:
Hudson and his brother stopped by to tell their wishes to Santa in November. All baby planners get a free itty bitty Santa session, along with other perks throughout the year.
And recently he came back to the studio for his final baby planner session! He was toddling around and babbling, and was as fast as can be! We had to get creative and move quickly to keep him in front of the camera. He looks so big here!
It has been my absolute pleasure to watch you grow, Hudson! Come back and see me soon!
